L'Université du Littoral-Côte d'Opale (ULCO), établissement pluridisciplinaire et multipolaire, est un établissement de taille humaine dont le dispositif de formation est au standard Licence-Master-Doctorat (LMD).
Elle propose à ses 11 000 étudiants une centaine de diplômes habilités dans les domaines suivants :
• Droit, Economie, Gestion
• Arts, Lettres, Langues
• Sciences Humaines et Sociales,
• Sciences, Technologies, Santé / STAPS.
Ses étudiants répartis sur quatre sites de formation, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais, Dunkerque et Saint-Omer, bénéficient d'excellentes conditions de travail.
Des équipements performants, des méthodes d'enseignement innovantes et une proximité avec les équipes pédagogiques créent un cadre propice à l'acquisition des connaissances et au dialogue, pour un plein épanouissement de chacun. Parallèlement, ses partenariats avec de nombreux établissements d'enseignement supérieur, instituts ou écoles à l’étranger donnent la possibilité aux étudiants d'effectuer une partie de leur scolarité au sein de ceux-ci et de s'enrichir tant au niveau personnel que professionnel.
En raison de sa multipolarité, l'ULCO s'est rapidement tournée vers les technologies de l'information et de la communication (TIC) avec notamment l'installation de la visioconférence sur ses différents sites de formation, la création d'un système d'information documentaire géré par la bibliothèque universitaire, l'implantation de centres de ressources multimédia et la mise en place d’un campus numérique, complément à l’apprentissage des étudiants. Membre de l'Université Numérique en Région Nord-Pas de Calais, elle participe à l'élaboration de solutions numériques performantes avec notamment l’implantation d’un portail fournissant de multiples services aux étudiants et au personnel.
La recherche a toujours été une priorité pour l'université qui en tire une meilleure visibilité au niveau national et international. Trois thématiques sont développées dans onze laboratoires reconnus regroupés en cinq maisons de la recherche : “Environnement, milieux littoraux, développement durable”, “Langues, littérature, histoire et culture”, “Mathématiques et sciences pour l’ingénieur”. Aujourd'hui, elle favorise le développement d'effets de synergie entre ses laboratoires et encourage très fortement la participation active de ces derniers aux réseaux de recherche, notamment au niveau régional. Membre fondateur du Pole de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur (PRES) Université Lille Nord de France, elle contribue à la consolidation du potentiel de recherche dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
